Virgil Wong is a digital transformation and AI expert who builds cultures of innovation within large enterprises. By leveraging entrepreneurial best practices, Virgil helps global brands embrace new opportunities in interactive design and technology in interactive design and technology to achieve specific business goals and outmaneuver both existing and emerging competitors. As a faculty member at The New School, he has mentored entrepreneurs for over 17 years and created strategies for effective problem-solving and design thinking within even the most complex organizations. Virgil is the founder of Medical Avatar LLC, a start-up that pioneered medical "time travel" visualizations with health coaching programs that reduced the incidence of diabetes and heart disease in high-risk communities by over 26%. Over 15 years, he was also the founder and head of web services at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and Weill Cornell Medical College, where he led the development of digital solutions for patient care, research, and education. As a visual artist, Virgil has exhibited art installations on the future of technology, medicine, and society in museums around the world – including the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Taipei, and Deitch Projects in New York. His film "Murmur," based on a cardiovascular surgeon’s dream journal, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2001. Virgil has his MFA in New Media, and his PhD work (research certification at Columbia University) focused on cognitive and intelligent technologies for health behavior transformation.
